Godaddy Review (Short Summary)

Godaddy is the biggest Hosting company in the whole world and the most famous hosting company in the world.

Godaddy is obviously the biggest, but not the best, Bluehost is the best hosting company in our opinion.

Bluehost provides Free SSL, Free Domain, Free CDN, Free Backups, Free Site Migration which GoDaddy doesn’t provide and it may easily cost you $50 to $150 with Godaddy.

Bluehost is also recommended by WordPress.org

Godaddy Review

And Bluehost’s speed and uptime are also very good as compared to Godaddy, and in the past few years, a lot of Godaddy’s customers are not happy with them.

But Godaddy is still better than a lot of other Hostings and reliable as well.

Godaddy Pros

  • Uptime – 99.99%
  • 24/7 Customer support
  • 1-Click WordPress Installation

Godaddy Cons

  • No free SSL
  • No Free Domain
  • No Free Backups
  • No Free Site Migration

So, at last, I will just say that Godaddy is a good Hosting Company, but Bluehost is the best (in our opinion) and if you are a super GoDaddy fan then you can buy GoDaddy’s Hosting because it’s not that bad.

But if you think logically then Bluehost is the best option for you, and you can check out my detailed review about Bluehost here.

Godaddy Pros and Cons

Pros

  •  Uptime – 99.99%
  • Load time
  • 24/7 Customer Support
  • 1-click WordPress Installation
  • Reliability
  • My own Experience

Cons

  • No Free SSL
  • No Free Domain
  • No Free Backups
  • No Free Site Migration

Godaddy Pros

1. Uptime

Uptime – Uptime is a measure of system reliability, expressed as a percentage of time a machine is running and available, in simple words percentage of time your website is up and running fine.

And you obviously want your website to be down because if your website is down then no would be able to access it and you’ll lose a lot of customers or visitors.

Godaddy offers you 99.9% of uptime and if they fail to keep this promise then you can contact them and let them know that t they have failed to keep their promise.

And then you will get 5% of the credit of your monthly hosting fee of that month and you can use those credits to purchase any products or services from Godaddy.

Godaddy offers you 99.9% of Uptime which means your website would be down for almost 8-9 Hours in a year.

which is good but not as compared to Bluehost which offers 99.98% of Uptime which means your website will be down approximately for 1-2 Hours.

But Godaddy is well above average uptime of web Hosting companies, but obviously, it’s not the best – Bluehost, Hostgator, Dreamhost, and Siteground have good uptime then Godaddy.

2. Load Time

Fortunately, in 2021 almost most of the hosting provider provides a good load speed and why it’s important is because people on the internet don’t want to wait and they might bounce off if your website is slow.

And the other reason is that it’s also not good for SEO and Google has said that your website should not take more than 3seconds to load.

That’s why everyone has started caring so much about load time nowadays, and Godaddy’s load time is also pretty fast and it’s very close to some of the fastest hosting companies in the world.

And even you can use a lot of plugins and tools to make your website, and mainly there are two reasons for your website slowing down

  • Unoptimized Images
  • Not using CDN

Unoptimized Images – Unoptimized images are one of the most common factors that slow down your images, to optimize your images, you have to use image compressing plugins like “smush”.

Or tools like Highcompress.com to compress your images and then use it on your website because high-resolution images can take a lot of space and slow down your website.

Not Using CDN – Not Using CDN is also one of the most common factor of slowing down your website.

CDN stores your website’s files in a lot of servers so whenever a user visit your website, you website opens from the nearest server to that user and it helps you to increase speed of your website. and that’s how you can can make your slow website fast.

3. 24/7 Support

Support team of your hosting is always gonna help you a lot if you have any problem with your Hosting or website, or even if you crash your website, the support team of your hosting can help you to get backup of your website.

Godaddy provides you live chat, phone and Whatsapp support and you can easily resolve your problems with the help of their support team.

And their live chat has improved a lot, back then their support use to sound like the sales team because they use to focus more on upselling you something and not actually helping.

Godaddy live chat support

But now it’s a lot better and if you have any problem, you can take it to them and they will help you to resolve it.

And support team doesn’t mean a team of call centre people who don’t know anything about hosting, this is a team of trained professionals who knows everything about hostings and websites.

4. 1-Click WordPress Installation

GoDaddy offers you 1-Click WordPress installation with the help of their c-panel, c-panel is the place from where you can find all the option for 1-Click Installation that your Hosting provides.

And their c-panel interface is also quite good, and other than WordPress, you can install 125+ powerful third part software with 1-Click Installation and it includes Content Management systems like WordPress, Joomla and Drupal.

They also provide tools for web-developers and these are some of its examples – cPanel, MySQL, Python, CloudLinux, and multiple versions of PHP.

1-Click Installation tools by GoDaddy

So they have a good variety of third-party software for you to help and so even if you are not looking for starting a blog with WordPress, even then GoDaddy has a lot of options for you.

And this 125+ softwares are for all from a beginner to an experienced pro-level web developer.

And they also provide drag and drop website builder which can help you to build your website.

But I will not suggest you to use GoDaddy website builder because Elementor is a free WordPress Plugin which is far more better than GoDaddy’s website builder

5. Reliability

Reliability is also one of the most important factors to look at when buying a Hosting because your website is dependent on your hosting, your whole business is dependent on your Hosting.

And if they are not reliable about uptime or load-speed or support that they provide then it’s a huge problem.

that’s why I always recommend people to choose some well-renowned brands in the Hosting industry while choosing Hosting for your website.

You can check past of the Hosting companies to know how reliable they are, have they been unreliable with their uptime or have they been involved in any legal issues in past.

And a lot of times Big Web Hosting companies are also been hacked, so you also have to look at how do they handle such situations.

So now if you talk about GoDaddy then GoDaddy is one of the most reliable hosting company and they have been in this game from almost 24 years and it is one of the oldest Web Hosting Companies.

6. My own Experience

To test Godaddy’s Hosting and services I have hosted my own website, this website on Godaddy.

It’s been more than 1 year and it’s working totally fine and I’m totally satisfied with their Uptime, Loading speed and customer support.

And I will repeat my statement that Godaddy is not the best Web Hosting in the world but it’s obviously a lot better than average Web Hosting Companies.

Godaddy Cons

1. No Free Domain

Most of the Top Web Hosting companies provide free Domain at least for 1st year with their hosting plan.

But Godaddy doesn’t provide free domain (they might give it for free in festival seasons) and you have to buy it separately for ₹800 per year.

So if you don’t know what Domain is then the domain name is the name of your website 0r your Online Business and you have to buy your Domain Name on yearly basis from Domain Registrar.

2. No SSL Certificate

SSL Certificate protects your website visitors data from hackers and it’s very important because if your website’s visitor gets hacked then he might directly blame you because your website doesn’t have SSL Certificate and your website is not secure.

Website without SSL

And google also have started showing “Not Secure” before the link of the website, and it also puts a bad impression on your visitors.

3. No Backups

Sometimes you might mess up some things in your website and might crash it, and even if when installing a new version of WordPress then you have to take Backups your website.

But again GoDaddy doesn’t provide free backups of your website,  a lot of Hostings do provide backups, like Bluehost.

Otherwise, there are a lot of plugins which can help you to keep backups of your website like “Updraft”

4. No Free Site Migration

If you have hosted your website on any other hosting and if you want to try GoDaddy hosting then you have to migrate your website from your current hosting to Godaddy.

And again GoDaddy doesn’t provide Free Site Migration, so you have to do it by yourself, or you have to use GoDaddy’s site migration service which will cost you around $99.99. which would be even costly than your Hosting itself.

But Bluehost provides it for free and you can migrate your website to Bluehost without any efforts and without spending even a penny.

5. No SSD Storage

You can store your website with two type of storage devices – Hard disk and SSD.

And SSD storage is considerably fast than hard Disk, so it’s very logical that if you host your website which provides you with SSD storage then your website will be fast.

And that’s what GoDaddy doesn’t provide, Godaddy stores your data in disk space and as I said it slow as compared to SSD storage.

Bluehost on the other side provides 50 GB SSD storage which is quite awesome.

6. No Free Business Emails

When you start a Online business or Blog then you come in contact with a lot of people, other blogger and tons of visitors.

So now if someone wants to contact you then how can they do so, so that’s why we create contact us page and that’s why we have to have a business email as well.

Because you can’t talk to someone as a representative of your company with your personal email, it has to business email.

That’s why you have to buy Business Emails and again Godaddy doesn’t provide it in their plan you have to buy it separately.

On the other hand, Bluehost provides 5 Business Emails within their hosting plan, so you don’t have to buy it separately.

Godaddy pricing and Plans

These are 4 hosting levels in shared Hosting plan and it’s starting price is ₹99, and their starter plan is fine for you if you are starting out, but they don’t provide you essential services in their starter plan.

So we have to see what price you get after adding all the essential services like Domain an SSL.

Godaddy's Hosting plans

And this is the final price of Bluehost and Godaddy, Bluehost already adds all the essential services in their plan, but GoDaddy doesn’t so we had to add some essential services with GoDaddy hosting.

Godaddy Final Price

Godaddy Final pricing

This is the final price of Godaddy, with 1 year of Hosting, Domain, SSL Certificate and Domain privacy protection and the total is =  7,135

Bluehost Final Price

Bluehost final price

And this is the final price of Bluehost with 1 year of Hosting, Domain, SSL, Domain privacy protection, 5 Free Business Emails, Free daily Backups, 50 GB SSD Storage (which GoDaddy provide 30 GB with disk space which is slow as compared to SSD) and Free CDN and the total price is = $83.28 (approximately 5,800 to 6,000).

With Bluehost, you’ll easily save 1,000 and in addition, you’ll get 20 GB more SSD Storage, 5 Free Business Emails, Free Daily Backups and Free CDN which will easily cost you around ₹3,000 to ₹5,000.

So if we total it then you can approximately save around ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 by choosing Bluehost.

Do we recommend Godaddy

Yes! GoDaddy is a lot better than a lot of Web Hosting Companies in the world, and it’s the biggest Web Hosting in the world with having 20million+ customer.

Godaddy’s load speed, Uptime and 24/7 support is quite good and it makes it very easy for anyone to create a professional website and grow their business Online.

And then you might say what about Bluehost because I have mentioned Bluehost a lot of times, So as I said earlier Bluehost is the best Hosting in the world (according to our opinion and research).

And not just us Bluehost is the best according to a lot of big websites and WordPress.org has given a place in the list of 3 best hosting companies in the world since 2006.

I’m just saying GoDaddy is not a bad option for hosting, but Bluehost is even far more better than GoDaddy.

About Godaddy

Godaddy is an American Domain and Hosting Company. Godaddy was founded in 1997 by Bobs Parsons, he’s sold his financial software service company “Parsons Technology” in 1994 for $65 million and then launched Jomax technologies in 1997.

In 1999 they decided to rename their company and they were brainstorming about new ideas for their company and one employee suggested “Big Daddy” but the domain name was not available, then parsons replied how about GoDaddy, the name was available and they bought it and in 2006 Jomax Technology changed to godaddy

Their customers liked their name a lot because it was a little bit funny name, So this is how they got their name. and now Since 2018, it is the biggest Hosting company in the whole world in terms of market share.

And GoDaddy is also well renowned for its interesting ads with big celebrities.

From the very beginning, their goal has been to provide help and all the tools that entrepreneurs need to grow Online and create their empire, GoDaddy claims that it is the place to turn your ideas into reality within an affordable price.

today Godaddy has become the Biggest Hosting Company in the whole world, with 20 million+ customers, 80 million+ domains and 14 offices all over the world, and they have acquired a lot of companies over the year.

So they are trusted from years, and I absolutely recommend it.

How to choose a Best Hosting Company

1. Uptime

Uptime is the time when your website is up and running totally fine and it’s very important to have a good uptime of your website.

Because if your website is down then no one would be able to access your website and you might lose a lot of visitors.

Dreamhost provides the highest uptime 100% uptime, but they claim that but in reality, it’s not possible to have 100% Uptime whole year.

After that comes the Bluehost with 99.99% Uptime.

2. Speed and Load time

Speed and load time is also one of the most important factors to look at when choosing the best Hosting for your website.

And it’s important because no one wants to visit a site that takes a long time just to open because no one is here to just visit your website, they want answers to their question and that’s why they are visiting your website.

So your website should be fast because if it’s not then your website’s customer experience will be ruin and you might lose a lot of customers and in result, you will go out of business.

And your Hosting plays a very important role in having a good loading speed of your website.

So you should choose web hosting that provides good speed and fast load time.

And these are some of the fastest Hosts – Siteground, Hostinger and Bluehost

3. Customer Support

As I have said earlier customer support is very important because if you run into any problem or if you crashed your website then you’ll need a good, caring and Profesional customer support people who have good technical knowledge.

Because if your hosting provider doesn’t give you this support then as a beginner you might run into big problems, and you even might lose your website, So it’s very important to have a good support team.

And fortunately, in 2021 most of the big Hosting Companies like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Siteground and others have a very good support team which will help you a lot.

4. Reliability

Reliability is our next thing to look at in your hosting company and why reliability is very important is because this is the internet age and there are a lot of fraudsters who are just waiting for you to do any mistake.

And these are some of the Hosting company who have been in the hosting industry from a quite long time and been very faithful with their customers – GoDaddy, Bluehost, Siteground, Hostgator etc.

5. Price

you have to look at pricing as well because there are a lot of hosting which provides you with everything an ask for a very premium price, which is very over the actual price of all the product and services they are providing.

Your web hosting should cost around $3-$9/Month, and not more than $100 for 1 year with their Basic plan (the cheapest plan of that hosting).

And yeah renewal prices go little higher than this because most of the hosting companies give you a discount on your first purchase.

6. Additional Features

A  lot of Hostings provide a lot of additional features and tools within their Hosting plan, so if you buy sting from a hosting company which provides you with a lot of tools and additional features then you can benefit a to form it.

So which additional features do Hosting Companies provide  –  Free Backups, Free CDN, Free Business Emails, Free Ads Credits, Free website Migration, plugins to optimize your website for speed and website Builder etc.

So these are the Hosting Companies which provides a lot of features and free tools

  • Hostgator – Free Website Builder, Free Website Migration, $150 Google Ads spend match credit, $100 Bing Ads credit, Free Business Email.
  • Bluehost – Free Website Builder, Free Website Migration, Free Daily Backups, 5 Free Business Emails, Free CDN, custom themes.
